NICER observation list: Target ID 462901

Abstract

A new compact X-ray binary within the error ellipse of the Fermi-LAT gamma-ray source 4FGL J0407.7--5702 has recently been discovered. Overall, the optical, X-ray, and gamma-ray properties of this source are consistent with a classification as a transitional millisecond pulsar in the accreting state, making it only the sixth such object known in the Galactic field. Here we propose NICER observations to confirm this classification and determine how similar its properties are to the other transitional millisecond pulsars.
