NICER observation list: Target ID 567001

Abstract

We propose a NICER monitoring campaign of the luminous neutron-star LMXB GX 13+1, with the aim of studying how the persistent disk wind in this source changes with variations in the mass accretion rate. Due to the high inclination of the source the latter is difficult to measure directly. Instead we will use changes in the hardness-intensity tracks as a proxy for changes in the accretion rate. We request four sets of 4 x 4 ks observations (64 ks total) to achieve this goal. The individual NICER exposures are long enough to accurately track changes in the density and ionization of the disk wind.
