Abstract:
We propose to observe the cTTS TW~Hya, SU~Aur and XZ~Tau with the Suzaku XIS in order to search for soft X-ray "excesses", indicating the presence of accretion induced X-rays in cTTS. We plan to utilize the sensitivity and capability of the Suzaku XIS to resolve the OVIII/OVII lines.With grating observations the absence of the forbidden line in the latter was found to provide strong evidence for the presence of accretion in the X-ray spectra of a few cTTS. With the increased sensitivity of Suzaku the presence of soft X-ray excesses can be demonstrated in a far larger sample of stars, and we want to demonstrate the existence of a soft X-ray, probably accretion induced component in cTTS with extremely hot coronae exhibiting the presence of the 6.7 keV iron line complex in their spectra.
