Abstract:

The long-standing questions on the origin of Galactic cosmic-rays (GCR) is still not settled, and star-forming regions are promising sites for the production of GCR. We propose deep observation of nearby star-forming region Cygnus X, aiming at GeV gamma-ray excess revealed by Fermi. By utilizing the high sensitivity of Suzaku XIS, particularly for diffuse X-rays, we can identify particle species (electrons or protons) and evaluate the cosmic-ray energy density in this important object.
