****************************************************** PR # 22051 We propose to observe the brightest, eclipsing X-ray polar to study the spectral behavior. Crude, time-resolved, hard X-ray spectroscopy will be possible for the first time. The BBXRT data on the polar BY Cam showed that the favored sites of emission (post-shock, pre-shock) did not contribute to the observed Fe K line. An eclipsing polar can refine our understanding of the actual emission regions and test the current models of polar accretion. The important Fe L-shell lines are expected to be detected, permitting estimates of the densities of the emitting regions. ******************************************************
