****************************************************** PR # 31026 To differentiate several theories for the relativistic particle accel eration to explain the pulsar activity, we propose observations of fo ur selected rotation powered pulsars. Two of them has strong polar m agnetic field and weak light-cylinder field, while the other two (ms ec pulsars) have weak polar magnetic field but strong light cylinder field. For well-studied young powerful pulsars, both polar and light -cylinder fields are strong. Since the magnetic field strength is th e most important parameter for the emission processes, comparison am ong these three classes of pulsars is most powerful experimental way to diagnose the acceleration mechanism. ******************************************************
