     We propose to observed two nearby galaxies behind the Milky Way. Dwin       
     geloo 1 (Dw 1) is a nearby (< 4 Mpc) spiral galaxy discovered very re       
     cently in the radio survey, and nothing is know about its X-ray emiss       
     ion. We hopet to detect new candidates for apparently super-Eddington       
      compact objects. Maffei 1 is the nearest (< 4 Mpc) large elliptical        
     galaxy, previously observed with Einstein and Ginga although Ginga co       
     uld not detect it. In Maffei 1, we search for very luminous compact s
