****************************************************** PR # 32063 Spectroscopy of LMXRB in the soft X-ray band have yielded a number of important results, among which the data obtained with the Einstein OGS and EXOSAT TGS grating, and the Einstein SSS stand out. Recently the discovery in the X-ray spectra of the LMXRB pulsar 4U1626-67 of the 1 keV line, identify with L-alpha NeX,implies an over-abundance of Neon which has major evolutionary implication for the composition of the companion star. ASCA also separated the low energy complex detected first with the SSS in another similar LMXRB XB0614+09.We propose to use ASCA to observe a sample of LMXRB having faint optical counterparts and use the low energy line emission properties to identify evolutionary class of the system. The study of such a sample could led to better understand ******************************************************
