Proposal Abstract
We propose a two-epoch VSOP experiment on the highly variable BL Lac
object 0524+034 detected recently with the RATAN-600 radio telescope.
The high degree of broad band variability with the characteristic scale
of 10 days and shorter (possibly, as short as IDV), the inverted
spectrum and the available ground-based VLBI image provide strong
evidence on the existence of sub-mas component(s) suitable for VSOP
imaging. The experiment proposed here is aimed at providing critical
observational data for an examination of the circumnuclear environment
in and propagation medium toward the source.
The full Cover Sheets
(compressed post-script, typically 50kbytes) can
be retrieved. Note that some proposals were reduced in extent by the
Scientific Review Committee (e.g. by reducing the number of
experiments), however the Cover Sheets contain the full proposal as
submitted. Also note that AO4 proposals were submitted in October 2000,
and information such as affiliations and contact details has
changed for some proposers since that time.
