XRISM resolve observation 202003010

MCG-03-58-007

Abstract

MCG-03-58-007, is one of best examples of a powerful and multi-component ultra fast outflow. Observed many times in X-rays, it has always shown deep, blue-shifted Fe-K absorption lines that can be associated with a multi-component UFO. At least two outflow components were detected outflowing with v/c~-0.07 & v/c~-0.2. The proposed 250 ks XRISM observation will provide the first high-resolution measurement of this extraordinary UFO. Thanks to the high spectral resolution of Resolve, each individual Fe-K band absorption trough will be resolved with exquisite detail, measuring with high precision the line profiles and velocities. XRISM will fully reveal this wind with unprecedented accuracy, probing the presence of multiple velocity components and the overall wind geometry and energetics.
