XRISM resolve observation 202050010

Object

GRS1758-258

Abstract

We propose a 40 ks observation of the Galactic black hole X-ray binary GRS 1758-258, to search for disk winds and to understand the relativistic effects in the vicinity of the black hole, through Resolve high-resolution spectroscopy. The source is one of only few persistent Galactic black hole X-ray binaries, and thus provides us with sufficient quality data for these studies at anytime when it is in XRISM's observing window. Resolve spectrum enables us to investigate the presence/absence of absorption lines from winds, including the ultrafast outflow with a velocity ~0.1c suggested in a previous Suzaku study of this source. It also helps to constrain the disk truncation radius and black hole spin, by modeling the broad Fe K alpha line profile with relativistic emission line model.
