XRISM XTEND observation 000138000

Title

XRISM OBSERVATIONS OF THE CENTAURUS CLUSTER

Abstract

Chemical enrichment and production of heavy elements is one of the key science questions related to the physics of galaxy clusters that XRISM will address. The hot intracluster medium in the Centaurus cluster has the highest metallicity among the X-ray brightest clusters in the sky. Its central iron abundance is about 1.5 times the solar value, which suggests an effective enrichment by Type Ia supernovae. Thus the Centaurus cluster is an ideal target to study detailed chemical enrichment through XRISM observations.
