Abstract

We propose a 100 ks observation to study the unique northeast region with complementary goals: understand the origin of the large-scale velocity asymmetry in the line-of-sight, where the northeast region is observed to be predominantly blue-shifted, constrain the explosion mechanism and environment of a Type Ia progenitor, constrain the ion temperatures, and probe the interaction with the neutral ambient medium in this region observed in Halpha optical emission. For that, we will resolve the line complex, measure temperatures, non-equilibrium ionization times and abundances, determine line shifts and broadenings of individual element from Si to the iron K line, search for rare element lines and charge exchange lines due to interaction with the neutral ambient medium.
