ABELL2029_E1
We propose two XRISM pointings toward the east of Abell 2029 to investigate azimuthal variations in gas motions and non-thermal pressure. A2029 is a hot, morphologically relaxed cluster observed in the XRISM PV phase, where the northern pointings revealed low turbulence and a non-thermal pressure fraction of only 2%. This challenges theoretical expectations of stronger anisotropy and increasing non-thermal support with radius. By targeting two eastern regions at the core edge and near R_2500, this program will probe the directional dependence and coherence of gas motions, and assess the validity of hydrostatic equilibrium in the presence of sloshing. Together with PV data, these observations will improve mass modeling in relaxed clusters and support future cluster-based cosmology.
