Abstract

Research on the broad line region in active galactic nuclei (AGN) has predominantly relied on UV/optical spectroscopy. A sub-category of unabsorbed AGN showing double-peaked broad Balmer lines hints to a contribution from the accretion disk. This proposal aims at utilizing the unprecedented high spectral resolution of XRISM/Resolve study the double-peaked Fe Ka line in 3C390.3, thought to be produced at a few hundred gravitational radii from the central black hole. The proposed XRISM observation will unambiguously establish the origin of this feature. This will provide a novel perspective, unveiling the complex structure and stratification of the inner accretion flow in AGN.
