TYCHO_SW
We propose a 100 ks observation to unveil the 3D ejecta properties of the southwest region of Tycho's supernova remnant to constrain the explosion mechanism and environment of a Type Ia progenitor. We will 1) resolve the line complexes, measure temperatures, non-equilibrium ionization times and abundances, distinguish line redshifts from the front and rear emitting shells, determine broadenings of individual elements from silicon to iron, and quantify the presence of rare elements; 2) study the impact of the environment by comparing with the northeast observation of Tycho s SNR where the remnant interacts with a denser interstellar medium; 3) determine the plasma properties where bright nonthermal stripes are located and in Si and iron knots associated with radio structures.
