Abstract

We propose XRISM Resolve observations of A2029 to test the radial and azimuthal distribution of ICM kinetic energy. PV measurements along the northern arm revealed a low non-thermal pressure fraction, placing this relaxed cluster in tension with simulations; however, current data sample only one azimuth, and AO2 results in the eastern region indicate directional variation. We request an outer eastern pointing to R2500 plus southern and western pointings at intermediate radii to establish an independent velocity baseline and enable azimuthal comparison. By determining whether the low kinetic pressure persists across directions, we will establish whether A2029 is globally quiescent or exhibits anisotropic gas motions, providing a benchmark for kinetic support in relaxed clusters.
