ABELL399
We propose to observe the pre-merging cluster pair A399-A401. XRISM/Resolve measurements of the intracluster medium (ICM) redshifts in both components are crucial for constraining the 3D geometry and dynamics of the system. These measurements will address the origin of the gaseous bridge between the clusters: whether it arises from compression of the ICM in the cluster outskirts or from the warm hot intergalactic medium (WHIM) within a cosmic filament. In addition, Xtend observations will significantly enhance the detection of the X-ray bridge emission and, when combined with SZ data, provide robust constraints on its thermodynamic properties.
